L. Frank Baum
L. Frank Baum's most famous book was The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which was published in 1900. The book made Frank a great deal of money. Frank Baum wrote many more books about Oz. These include Ozma of Oz (1907), The Road to Oz (1909), The Lost Princess of Oz (1917), and Glinda of Oz (1920). But The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has always been his most popular book.
Dorothy, the main character of the book, lives on a farm in Kansas until a cyclone arrives, and picks her, her house, and her dog up and deposits them in the land of Oz. Things in Oz are strange and beautiful, but Dorothy just wants to get back home. She is helped by the Good Witch of the North, but she is also in trouble with the Wicked Witch of the West, who seeks revenge for the death of her sister; the Wicked Witch of the East, for which she blames Dorothy.
