In The Norwood Builder he realises that one passage in the house is shorter than the passage below it. When Sherlock Holmes has to solve an interesting case, his friend Dr Watson is usually at his side. Watson helps the great detective with his work, and makes notes. Later, he uses his notes to write the history of the case.
